CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. -- On Thursday, Sept. 23, students at Charles Town Middle School made administrators aware of two separate threats made on social media. In both instances, the CTMS administration followed their standard practice and immediately contacted law enforcement. Investigations were automatically launched. In collaboration with law enforcement, it was determined that the school could safely continue operation. Law enforcement and administrators will continue to be vigilant regarding social media threats and ensure that any individuals responsible for disrupting instruction are held accountable.
“We take any threat very seriously, and I am so grateful that our students feel comfortable enough with our staff to share this type of social media post,” CTMS Principal Matt Wink said. “It speaks to the kind of environment we foster here. It's wonderful that students and staff can all work together with law enforcement to keep our school safe.”
