I have been working in Jefferson County as a band director since the summer of 2005. I started as the assistant band director at Jefferson High School and then moved here to Charles Town Middle School in the summer of 2008.

I graduated Shepherd University with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Music Education in 2005 and Masters in Music Education in 2010. While working on my undergraduate degree I had the opportunity to participate and work with several of Shepherd's large ensembles. During my latter years at Shepherd I conducted the Wind Symphony, Prepatory Orchestra, and Chamber Ensemble. In April 2005, I performed with the Shepherd Wind Ensemble in a debute performance at Carnigie Hall. Throughout my time at Shepherd, I played the trumpet.

I am a member of Sigma Alpha Lota, MENC and AFT. Currently, I play trumpet and saxophone at my church, Covenant Baptist, in Shepherdstown, WV. I live in Charles Town with my husband Ryan, our son Ira and our dog Tonka.

What do the students wear when they perform with the band?

All 7th and 8th grade CTMS band students need to black pants, black shoes and socks, and a CTMS band purple polo shirt (which can be purchased from Mrs. Allen for $14.00). Checks made payable to CTMS Music Boosters.

What do the students wear when it's cold and their performances are outside?

The band provides all students with a CTMS pullover jacket which is to be turned into Mrs. Allen after the Christmas Parade. They are to wear this pullover with their black pants, black shoes and socks.

What do the students wear to the Winter and Spring concerts?

Students are to wear nice dress clothes. Please no jeans, t-shirts, jerseys, sports wear, or sneakers.
